About Melissa's Work

Melissa Skeet is Diné, born on the Navajo Nation and grew up at the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. Melissa received her undergrad at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ, and started her career path in Victim Assistance. In 2017, Melissa was a victim of Domestic Violence, where she almost lost her life. Melissa discovered that roller derby was not only a savior for her during this time, but it was the empowering athletes within this sport who brought her back to life. Her love for the outdoors combined with roller skating turned into her passion for trail skating.

As Melissa continues her trail skating awareness, she has big plans to bring awareness and education about Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons, health, and healing.

February 14th is Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women's (MMIW) National Day of Action.

For the whole month of February, join Melissa Skeet on a 5k to raise awareness!

Indigenous women, girls, men, elderly, 2-Spirit, and Trans people are still going missing at a high rate with a large percentage of these cases resulting in murder. Many cases end up as cold cases with a confusing conclusion that seems to not make any sense and leaves the family with no justice and a complicated healing journey.

Please join her by roller skating/blading, walking, running, etc.

Register/sign-up for the 5k event by donating today.
